Community Council Elections - Join GPCC!

Writer: raphbleakleyraphbleakley

There is now less than a week left of the Community Council elections in Edinburgh and GPCC needs you!

GPCC needs new members to continue our work. Community Councillors have direct contact with elected Ward Councillors. GPCCs job is to represent and promote local residents. Information about the election can be found on the City of Edinburgh Council website.

GPCC is made up of individual Elected Members (12), and Nominated Representative Members (6) who come from local amenity, voluntary, interest and residents groups. It is non-political and not aligned with City Chambers groupings.

Community council work is an active undertaking. It needs some time, energy, focus and a real interest in how the city works.

The commitment is to ensure that local resident voices are listened to, not just heard; on important local issues such as planning, transport, roadways, green space, education, policing, community health and wellbeing; and others.

To be a community councillor as an Elected Member, you need to be over 16 years of age, live in and be registered to vote within the GPCC boundary area. Copies of nomination papers are here:
